John Cena is gearing up to say his final farewell to the WWE Universe this December. The 17-time world champion is set to have his last in-ring match at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
In 2024, Cena shocked the world when he announced that he would be officially retiring from in-ring competition in 2025 and called it his “farewell tour.” Since then, he has competed in his last Royal Rumble Match, where he was the second man standing but was eliminated by Jey Uso. Cena also competed in Elimination Chamber where he won but shocked the world by turning on Cody Rhodes joining forces with the Final Boss, The Rock. This move also solidified him as a heel (bad guy) for the first time in his 20+ career.
Cena went on to have his final Wrestlemania match, where he defeated then-champion Cody Rhodes, establishing himself as a 17-time world champion.
WrestleVotes revealed the Cena news via X (Twitter). “John Cena’s final match is set for Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, live from the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.”
This news comes after it was rumored that this Friday night, SmackDown Live, will mark his final appearance. However, as he comes off the heels of winning his match against Logan Paul at Clash in Paris, fan are speculating that Cena will have one last bout against the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar made a surprise appearance during night two of SummerSlam after Cena’s match against Cody Rhodes, where he lost his title. Lesnar attacked Cena, leaving fans with more questions than answers.
With WWE’s next Premium Live Event (PLE), Wrestlepalooza, coming up, John Cena and Brock Lesnar could cross paths again. However, fans will have to sit back in wait to see what happens next.
