John Cena Opens Up About His 2 Hair Transplants

John Cena opens up about getting two hair transplants.

While speaking with PEOPLE Magazine, the WWE legend talked about his newly shaved hairstyle, which he said is “going great,” after his second transplant.

“The objective is to get more hair, and this was the best way to do it, talking with Ken Anderson, my doctor over there,” he said while pointing at his doctor, who was nearby. “I love the guy. He’s totally changed my life.”

Cena revealed that he was so impressed by the doctor’s work in Georgia that he returned for a second round, 15 months later. “I went back to him like, ‘Man, you did great. I have this one small, small, small spot. Can you do it?” he recalled. “He’s like, ‘I can. My best results are -if you’re bold enough to shave your head, I can keep the follicles.’”

The Never Seen, 17-time world champion, also explained how Dr. Anderson’s process works. “My first operation was 13 and a half hours. The second one was eight hours.”

He added, “And I’m rocking this hair thing with the promise that he’s working. I have full trust and faith in him with this process.”

This isn’t the first time that Cena has talked about his hair transplant journey. Back in June, John Cena talked about undergoing his second round of follicular unit extraction (FUE), a form of hair transplant surgery that utilizes small-diameter surgical punches to extract individual follicular units for hair restoration, according to the American Hair Loss Association.

“Round 2 of FUE Treatment, and this time I went all in for the best possible results,” he wrote at the time. “Thank you, Ken Anderson and the staff at Anderson Center for Hair for accompanying me on this journey!”

Last August, John Cena began to take his hair health journey more seriously after WWE fans pushed him. “They’ve held me accountable. They don’t let you get away with phoning it in, because they’ll eat you alive. That’s what a good support system does.”

He continued, “As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light. I saw their signs that said, ‘The bald John Cena.’ They pushed me into going to see what my options were and actually do some homework to learn about scalp health, hair health, follicle health. I now have a routine: red light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, conditioner, and I also got a hair transplant.”

He also shared that he hates the fact that there’s a lot of shame around getting the procedure. “I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago,” he explained. “I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 men suffer from thinning or baldness.”

He went on to explain how it works. “They don’t do anything except move your hair, one by one, from one area to another. It’s my hair, and I’m not using this stuff on the side, and I’d like to put it up on the top,” he said. “If somebody’s going to sweat me for that, I don’t think there’s any shame in that. It completely changed the course of my life.”

Due to this new transformation, Cena believes it has given him more range as an actor. “A different hairstyle can identify a part that can get me more work, do the thing I love to do,” he added.

John Cena’s Retirement Match Confirmed By WWE

John Cena is gearing up to say his final farewell to the WWE Universe this December. The 17-time world champion is set to have his last in-ring match at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

In 2024, Cena shocked the world when he announced that he would be officially retiring from in-ring competition in 2025 and called it his “farewell tour.” Since then, he has competed in his last Royal Rumble Match, where he was the second man standing but was eliminated by Jey Uso. Cena also competed in Elimination Chamber where he won but shocked the world by turning on Cody Rhodes joining forces with the Final Boss, The Rock. This move also solidified him as a heel (bad guy) for the first time in his 20+ career.

Cena went on to have his final Wrestlemania match, where he defeated then-champion Cody Rhodes, establishing himself as a 17-time world champion.

WrestleVotes revealed the Cena news via X (Twitter). “John Cena’s final match is set for Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, live from the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.”

This news comes after it was rumored that this Friday night, SmackDown Live, will mark his final appearance. However, as he comes off the heels of winning his match against Logan Paul at Clash in Paris, fan are speculating that Cena will have one last bout against the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar made a surprise appearance during night two of SummerSlam after Cena’s match against Cody Rhodes, where he lost his title. Lesnar attacked Cena, leaving fans with more questions than answers.

With WWE’s next Premium Live Event (PLE), Wrestlepalooza, coming up, John Cena and Brock Lesnar could cross paths again. However, fans will have to sit back in wait to see what happens next.
