Billy Porter Diagnosed With Sepsis; Cuts Broadway Role Short

Billy Porter cuts his role in the Broadway play “Cabaret” earlier than expected after being diagnosed with sepsis.

Originally, Porter was supposed to play the Emcee until October 21, but due to his health scare, his last show will be on September 21st.

The show’s social media accounts released a statement in regard to the beloved actor and said, “His doctors are confident that he will make a full recovery but have advised him to maintain a restful schedule.” See the full statement below.

Sepsis is considered to be a life-threatening condition once the body responds to an extreme infection. It can lead to organ failure, tissue damage, and even death if it goes untreated.

Marty Lauter and David Merino will take turns playing the role of the Emcee in Porter’s absence.

Please keep Billy Porter in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
