Ray J gives fans a health update after his near-fatal hospital stay earlier this month.
The “One Wish” singer went on Instagram and revealed that his heart is beating at 25% due to his excessive drug and alcohol use. “My heart’s only beating like 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, then everything will be all right,” he said. Ray went on to thank his fans for all of their prayers.
This hospitalization comes four years after he suffered from a severe case of non-COVID pneumonia. He was placed on oxygen and given an inhaler. During his first hospital stay he revealed that he was going to die.
“I thought it was over,” Ray J said during that time. “I started praying and knew God is good, so I just kept praying.”
When people say that R&B is dead, it’s only because they haven’t heard David Michael Wyatt sing yet.
Born and raised in Houston, Wyatt comes from a musical family with a church background. He began singing while in pre-school, thanks to his teacher hearing his voice. However, he revealed that he didn’t fall in love with his voice until later on.
“Although I had my first solo in pre-k singing Whitney Houston’s ‘The Greatest Love of All,’ I didn’t fall in love with my own voice until I was 18,” he recalled. “I began to appreciate my voice and see how it affected people.” Wyatt’s voice affects people in a positive way.
The singer held an intimate listening session at Tidal, where he performed covers of “Hey Ya” by OutKast, “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon, and “This Christmas” by the late Donny Hathaway, which is celebrating 55 years since its release.
When starting his career, Wyatt said that he didn’t see his artist journey as doing covers. From background vocals to original music, his covers became the bridge that connected him to audiences online.
“Doing the covers just happened to work out for me,” he explained. “They took off way bigger and faster than I even thought or imagined.” With each cover, Wyatt saw how deeply his singing moved people.”
“[For listeners], it was like taking a trip down memory lane, and then having the original artists of the songs reach out and tell me how much they appreciate the love. It has since become a thing of its own.”
From his first cover of “At Your Best” by The Isley Brothers to Donny Hathaway’s Christmas classic, he admitted there’s pressure that comes with honoring beloved songs. “When I was asked to do the cover of this song, I was like, ‘Are you sure, because this is one of those songs.’ I’m a firm believer that some songs don’t need to be covered.”
He added that he wanted to keep the respect and legacy of Hathaway’s song, but also wanted to put his spin on it. Since completing this cover, Wyatt is open to covering other Christmas classics, which are “Have Yourself A Little Christmas”, “Mary, Did You Know?”, and Boyz II Men’s “Let It Snow.”

Sammie finally speaks out after he was arrested in Georgia.
According to reports, the “I Like It” singer was arrested and charged with cruelty to children and battery. He was booked on Oct. 19 in the Henry County area.
The cruelty to children charge is an instance where a violent act was displayed and witnessed by a child, and not acted out on a child. The details on the allegations have not been made public.
Sammie was later released on bond and has given fans an update on the situation via social media. The singer jumped in the comments under The Shaderoom’s Instagram post saying that the news coverage was “clickbait.”
“TSR, y’all know better,” he wrote. “Should’ve hit me and my team first for the facts opposed for clickbait, y’all know how I rock. Y’all brought me back career-wise, but I see y’all pushing the agenda of negativity, and that’s fine. God bless y’all. I pray the apologies are as loud as the lies and offenses.”
He also addressed the situation via his Instagram Story. “I’mma let God have his say and the courts have their say. The truth shall set you free.”
