Kiki Shepard has died at 74 years old.
According to reports, the longtime co-host of the legendary show, “Showtime at the Apollo,” passed away from a massive heart attack in Los Angeles. Reports also noted that her passing was “completely unexpected.”
Many remember Shepard for her run as a co-host on “Showtime at the Apollo” from 1987 to 2002 with Steve Harvey. She would help introduce aspiring artists as well as get feedback from the audience on who was the best act of the night.
After her time on the legendary music talent show, Shepard continued to work in television and appeared on various shows, including “Baywatch,” “A Different World,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and more.
She also appeared on Broadway in productions such as “Porgy and Bess,” “Your Arms Too Short to Box With God,” “Reggae,” and “Bubbling Brown Sugar.” Before landing her gig on Apollo, Kiki Shepard was a professional dancer in the 1970s and performed around the world with the D.C. Repertory Dance Company.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kiki Shepard’s family and loved ones during this time.
