Jada Pinkett-Smith To Reprise Her Role In Netflix’s ‘A Different World’

Jada Pinkett-Smith is returning to Hillman College!

The actress revealed that she will be reprising her role as Lena James in the upcoming Netflix series, A Different World. Pinkett-Smith shared an Instagram post of herself outside the trailer, with her character’s name in the caption: “She’s back.”

The actress joined the show in the later seasons, playing the ever-so-confident and outspoken Lena James from Baltimore, MD. The new series follows Deborah Wayne, who is played by Maleah Joi Moon. She is the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert-Wayne.

While beginning her freshman year at the fictional HBCU, Deborah is on a mission to establish herself and her own identity while trying to get through the legacy of her parents.

Jada Pinkett-Smith’s return to the show has added to the long list of original cast members such as Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Darryl M. Bell, Cree Summer, and Charnele Brown.

The freshman class for the new series also includes Alijah Kai as Rashida, Cornell Young IV as Shaquille, Chibuikem Uche as Kojo, Jordan Aaron Hall as Amir, Kennedi Reece as Hazel, Vincent Jamal Hooper as Ellington, Elijah J. Roberts as Jalen, Renee Harrison as Candace, and Famecia Ward as Nellie Gaines.

The new production is set to keep cultural ties to the original, with some surprises along the way,
