Lil Kim has announced she’s working on her own film about her life and career, and called the 2009 portrayal of her in “Notorious” inaccurate.
While a guest on Nick Cannon’s Big Drive interview series, the rapper discussed her career and legacy and explained why the biopic was an inaccurate depiction of her. “Notorious was not accurate,” she said. “A lot of it was not accurate. I’m going to show everybody what really happened between me and Biggie in the Lil Kim movie because it’s coming.”
Kim said the project is “100% in the works,” and it might be a “documentary instead of a biopic.” The rapper has been vocal about how the movie depicted her. In 2021, she talked about the kind of story she wants to be told about her.
“I want people to know the real Kim. All the stories that everybody else tells, chile, don’t listen to it,” she said. Kim also said that she wants a specific person to play her in the film about her life. “It can only be a girl that’s from the hood that I’m from. I love Teyana, she’s my only other thought.”
She continued, “There’s nobody else in the industry at all, but Teyana. But even before Teyana, – I love Teyana, but she’s from Harlem – before Teyana, I would love to give some little girls from Brooklyn a chance so I can connect. Really connect.”
