What happens with Ballroom meets Broadway? You get Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and it is already a must-see.
Co-directors Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch come together to bring you a twist to the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber phenomenon, CATS. This reinvention of the hit play will allow viewers to witness “a kaleidoscope of glittering spectacle, iconic music, and electrifying ballroom choreography,” as the press release states.
Although the production has a new twist, it will keep the classic songs from the original play, such as “Memory” and “Jellicle Song for Jellicle Cats.” During its off-Broadway run, the production has already won a few Obie Awards, including for choreography by New York City Ballroom legends, Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons.
Cats: The Jellicle Ball also stars other ballroom legends, including Junior Labeija, Leiomy, “Tempress” Chasity Moore, and the legendary actor and Broadway star André De Shields.
The show will be on Broadway on March 18th at the Broadhurst Theatre. Tickets are on sale now. Take a look at what you can expect from this amazing play.
