Karen Huger is a free woman!
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star was released after serving six months out of a two-year prison sentence. Huger walked out of the Montgomery County Detention Center in Maryland on Tuesday, September 2.
Huger was in jail since December 2024 after being arrested for a DUI. In March 2024, she was taken into custody after she reportedly hit several street signs and crashed into the median. She was charged with negligent driving, driving under the influence, as well as other traffic violations.
She was later acquitted of the reckless driving charge. At her sentencing in February, she received two years in prison, with one year suspended.
A video captured Huger waving from the window of her SUV after she left the detention center. With her early release, fans are speculating that the Grande Dame will return to RHOP.
She left the show after she was absent from the season nine reunion. She explained through a pre-recorded message that she had entered a private recovery program to help her with her use of antidepressants and drinking.
“This is very frightening, but I accept full responsibility for everything with my car accident. I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children; I care about my family. They’re so hurt,” she added.
