Puckedeo: Changing The Standard Of Hip-Hop

Puckedeo is a 19 – year-old up and coming gay artist who is ready to make an impact on the music scene in a major way.

Born Deontay Puckett, of Nashville, Tennessee, Puckedeo knew that he always wanted to be a music artist. “Music has always been a part of me it has always been my go-to.” However, growing up in Tennessee, his music selection and influences were rather different than what most would expect it to be. “Growing up, I was influenced by Rihanna, Little Mixx, Ciara, Drake, and my ultimate favorite, Britney Spears.

With having these major names as his influences, he believed that music and him perusing it was something that chose him. “I knew that music was it for me but was always nervous about it. I originally wanted to be a singer but I realized that I was an okay singer,” he continued. “It wasn’t until I was on the phone with a friend and they said that I have a dope rap voice. That’s when I started thinking that maybe this is something that I can do.” Ever since he had that conversation with his friend, he would focus on becoming a rapper. He would study hours and hours of different rap videos to figure out how he can emulate them.

Coming from a state where it is mostly known for its country music roots, Puckedeo has found his way into the hip-hop scene and he is staying true to himself as well. In the aforementioned statement, Pucekdeo is a gay rapper, who wants to make an impact within the hip-hop community. “For my impact, I just want to show people that it really doesn’t matter what you are, if you have good music, talent, flavor, and quality then people will pay attention to it.”

Puckedeo recently dropped his single named “Cash App” and he wanted it to stand out from the ordinary. “Before I came up with the idea for Cash App, I was looking for a particular sound, and I knew that I needed to think of a good song that was for me,” he continued, “I started to look through my apps on my phone, and I saw my cash app and it stood out to me more than Instagram and Twitter. I decided to twist it up a bit and make the song about something no one would expect it to be about… money.”

Take a listen to the single below.

Along with this single, Puckedeo has finally put out his first EP called, “He Keeps On Winning.” The six-track EP, according to the artist, has a particular flow and direction so that fans won’t be confused when listening to it. “For this EP, I have been working on it for an entire year. From the writing to choosing the sound, and making sure that every song sounded different but still tells a story.” His EP is out now. Listen to it below.
