CeeLo Green has proposed a VERZUZ battle against Lauryn Hill.
While on Rickey Smiley’s podcast, On the Spot, the “Forget You” singer talked about why he wants to face Hill in a Verzuz. “I would probably had to go up against Lauryn Hill, but she’s like my sister, and we were all together at Kanye West’s show, too. So, shouts out to the queen Ms. Hiil, ” he said.
Green continued, “But it would just be nothing but a love affair because we did our first tours together. We’ve been friends for years, and she’s a Gemini twin just like me. So that’s my twin sister- but she does rap and sing at the same time. you know? I think I would have to be paired up with somebody who has somewhat of the same dynamic.”
As the conversation continued, Smiley mentioned the VERZUZ between Tank and Tyrese, and said that it “brought audiences so much joy.”
Green added, “And you know what it is? Because we only feel like we know them as far as the song can expose or allow us to see them. But to see them in real life- their charm, charisma, comedic timing, and personalities- it’s just so much more humanizing. That’s why it was so pleasant to see. Shout out to Tank, shout out to Tyrese. Both good friends of mine. Both talented leading men.”
