    Times Square was in an uproar after a motorcycle backfired was mistaken for gunshots. Multiple videos of the people running in a panic has gone viral on Tuesday evening. Motorcycles backfiring while passing through sounded like gun shots.”The NYPD also tweeted that they have received dozen of phone calls about the mistaken gun shots and urged callers not to panic saying that Times Square is a safe place.This scare comes a few days after the two mass shootings that happened in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas killing 31 people.

    At the age of 16, Cyntoia Brown was convicted of killing her alleged sex trafficker and sentenced to life in prison, but today she is a free woman!Back in January, Brown was granted clemency by former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. Last week, the news broke that Brown would finally have an official release date of August 6th, 2019.According to ABC News, Brown was released at 3:30am. “Early this morning offender Cyntoia Denise Brown was released from the Tennessee Prison for Women. Per the commutation, Brown has now been released to parole supervision.”Although Brown has been released, she must comply with her approved released plan which states that she must maintain employment or be enrolled in school, participate in counseling sessions and maintain her community service obligations. Brown is currently working with the publishing company Atria Books to have her upcoming book “Free Cyntoia” published. The set date is for October 15th 2019.

    Novelist Toni Morrison Has Died at 88

    The world is mourning the loss of fame novelist Toni Morrison. According to her publisher, Morrison passed away on Monday night, she was 88 years old.

    Morrison was best known for her best selling and critically acclaimed novel Beloved, which won the 1988 Pulitzer prize. Morrison also became the first African American woman to win a Nobel Prize in Literature.

    Some of Morrison’s other works of literature includes Jazz (1992), Paradise (1997), Home (2012), and God Help the Child (2015). Toni Morrison broke barriers for many others to come along and she wrote through her toughest times.

    As reported by Vulture, in 2010, she wrote about the death of her son “I stopped writing until I began to think, he would be really put out if he thought that he had caused me to stop.”

    During the end of her Nobel Prize speech, Morrison ended with these words, “We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language. That may be the measure of our lives.”
