Black Music Month: ‘Not Tonight’ The Women Collab We Don’t Appreciate

Today is Day 4 of Black Music Month and I want to spotlight a song that I didn’t appreciate the voices on it until I got older.

Not Tonight by Lil Kim featuring Lisa ‘Lefteye’ Lopes, Da Brat, Angie Martinez, and Missy Elliott, is and will forever be a timeless classic. So much so it is very much appreciated in this day and age.

As I was listening to this song recently it dawned on me how much I didn’t appreciate this song when it first came out, although I was about 6 or 7 years old at the time. But there was nothing that can be said to me when Lefteye’s part came on because in that moment, I was her.

With that being said, I want to publicly show my appreciation for this song by spotlighting it today. It’s also the perfect song to kick off this weekend with your girls! Enjoy.

Diddy Breaks His Silence After The Death Of His Friend, Andre Harrell

Diddy breaks his silence and shares an emotional tribute to his mentor and friend Andre Harrell.

Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, posted a video on Instagram of him giving Harrell all the praise for believing in him at a young age. Diddy wrote under the touching video, “I honestly still can’t believe it. I’ve got to give myself the reality of this in doses. Because I can’t even handle this. I hope to God that you are all blessed to have someone in your life that loves you and believes in you like this man believed in me.… I’m going to miss him so much. I can’t even imagine life without Dre.”

Andre Harrell passed away at the age of 59 from heart failure. Although, he is gone, he will never be forgotten. His legacy will forever live on through music and through the artists he introduced fans such as Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D. and The Boyz and so much more.

R.I.P Andre Harrell, our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this time.
