Tupac Shakur is known to be the one of the greatest and most influential rappers of the all time. Although his career was tragically cut short back in 1996, he left behind a legacy for many to enjoy. In leaving such grand legacy, the artist could be headed into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2017. If Shakur is nominated to be in this class he will be the sixth hip-hop artist to enter and will be along RUN-DMC, The Beastie Boys, Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy and of course N.W.A. To be considered for a nomination slot, the artist would have to met their 25 year mark of their first album or single and for Tupac, 2Pacalypse Now is that album, which will hit that mark next month. This album was the start of the journey that Tupac had embarked on to educate his fans through his music. With songs such as ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’, ‘Young Black Male’, and ‘Words of Wisdom’, this album has paved the way for rappers of today.
Tupac joins the list of other legends nominated for this class such as Jane’s Addiction, Chaka Khan, Chic, Journey, Pearl Jam and former Poetic Justice Co-Star Janet Jackson. It gets better too! Artist on the Rise: The Silent Celeb
True R&B is back and it’s being presented by an artist on the rise; The Silent Celeb. The Silent Celeb or Silent is that true definition of bringing that old school R&B vibe to the new school R&B Era. The singer, who hails from the Bronx, NY, first introduced to many, including myself, during the first years of The Dean’s List and No Boys Allowed tours. Although many thought that she was a rapper, but surprised everyone when she started singing and singing songs that many people of this generation can relate too. Since her introduction, Silent has been traveling to different cities and states trying to get herself put out there in the music industry, even though it wasn’t easy. Despite what the critics thought about her as an artist, as a singer and as a female, she managed to overcome those barriers and in doing so she recently released a six song project entitled The Silent Celeb Project.
Since the release of this six song project it has become the highlight of the underground music world and on social media as well. Each song on this project will effect each listener differently because of the message that each song possess. From Quote Me that talks about a scenario that we all have been in one time or another, finally speaking to that special someone that you have been crushing on for a long time, to Good Music, where Silent expresses her frustration about the challenges that she faces everyday trying to make it in the music industry. Fans can expect to see Rihanna featured in the fourth episode of Dior’s “Secret Gardens”. The videos usually consists of models running around the palace of Versailles in beautifully, stunning Dior gowns. As to be featured in the video, the pop princess will also appear in a print campaign as well. This is the perfect setup for Rihanna! Considered a fashionista amongst friends, colleagues and fans, Rihanna has graced the covers of major fashion magazines such as Balmin, Vogue, Marie Claire, Bazaar and many more. The Dior shoot is set to be out by Spring.Nicki Minaj will forever be known as one of realest female rappers of all time. It is now safe to add that she is the only female rapper to have four songs be featured on the Top 10 Mainstream Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The songs that helped her make history are “Feeling Myself” featuring Beyonce, “Truffle Butter” featuring label mates Lil Wayne and Drake, Rae Sremmund’s “Throw Some Mo’ and “Only” featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, and Chris Brown.
