In honor of what would have been the Purple One’s 58th birthday, BET announced the names of some of the artists who be a part of the special celebration on this year’s BET Awards via Twitter. This tribute will consists of the legendary Sheila E., The Roots, D’Angelo and Janelle Monae. Talk about star studded! The news of this tribute was not the first time that BET made an interference that they had something better coming to honor Prince. During the Billboard Music Awards, which aired on May 22,2016, Madonna performed her own tribute to the late singer, which featured Stevie Wonder and let’s just say that fans as well as BET Networks were not impressed. The company later tweeted about the performance “Yeah we saw that, Don’t worry, we got you” Shade or nah?
The tweet has since been deleted but many fans are hoping that this tribute will not be like the one that Madonna gave on this year’s Billboard Music Awards, but if they say they got us then believe them. The BET Awards is scheduled to air on June 26, 2016. So stay tuned!
