This is tragic. Ten people have been reported dead after a mass shooting took place at King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado on Monday.
The 21-year-old shooter, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, opened fire on customers and the responding officers. Alissa used a rifle in the attack. He was taken down by officers after being shot in the leg and is currently in the hospital.
At the moment, there is no reported motive behind the shooting but police have identified the victims to be between the ages of 20 and 65. Among these victims was a Boulder police officer. Their names were Denny Strong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Suzanna Fountain, 59; Teri Leiker, 51; Eric Talley, 51; Kevin Mahoney, 61; Lynn Murray 62; and Jody Waters, 65.
The shooter currently faces 10 counts of first-degree murder according to Boulder Police Chief Marid Herold. He is expected to be taken to the Boulder County jail sometime Tuesday after his wounds are done being treated.
Michael Schneider, the FBI agent in charge of this case, said of the attack, “(It is) premature to draw any conclusions (about motive) at this point in time.”
Chief Herold added, “We are going to do everything in our power to make sure this suspect has a thorough trial and a thorough investigation will be done.”
