Tory Lanez is the artist to follow, if you don’t already. Lanez, a Canadian native, burst onto the music scene in 2015 with his hit Say It. The song peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Top 100 chart, not for only its catchy lyrics but for the dedication to the 90’s girl group Brownstone by sampling from their hit single If You Love Me (Say It). Since the release his first single, Tory Lanez has been on a nonstop climb to the top but before he made it to mainstream America, Lanez got his start in his town of Toronto where he dropped a few mixtapes dating back to 2009 and became a well known artist in the underground hip-hop world. Due to those releases, Lanez was discovered by award winning singer Sean Kingston, who later became his mentor. With Kingston in his corner, Lanez caught his big break in 2014 with the release of his mixtape Lost Cause, and for being featured on hip hop rapper YG’s song Me and My B*tch. Since then, Lanez is becoming a very successful artist in the music industry, but with success comes drama. For over a few now, Tory Lanez has been in the middle of publicly known feud with Grammy Award winner Drake, who is also a Canadian native. The two have shared some words about each other via freestyles or even songs but Lanez didn’t let the negativity from the beef get him down. He did what most businessmen would do and capitalize from it. On Christmas of last year,Lanez released his mixtape entitled The New Toronto along with merchandise for all of his fans to buy and in doing so he has made a pretty penny from it and is continuing to profit from it.Tory Lanez is currently on a 52 city tour which started on July 28th and will end on December 4th, promoting his first album I Told You and his current singles Luv, and Flex.
